Narrandera’s water is too dirty to drink

Narrandera’s water is too dirty to drink, after Labor abandoned the community by restarting water buybacks and leaving the town to rely on an unacceptable town bore.
Leader of The Nationals Matt Canavan said his visit to the town with Shadow Water Minister Michael McCormack and The Nationals’ Farrer candidate Brad Robertson over the weekend had raised alarming concerns, including water that is dark and murky.
“Narrandera’s drinking water is unacceptable in our nation – no town should have to put up with this rubbish,” Senator Canavan said.
“I met with community members over the weekend, and held a roundtable, and was shocked at just how bad the quality of Narrandera’s drinking water is.
“It’s even more unacceptable when we have spent $13 billion dollars on the Murray-Darling Basin plan, that we can’t provide clean drinking water.
“Since Labor came to power, they have restarted the water buybacks to appease the Greens. On top of that, after floods occurred there a few years ago, the Narrandera town bore is also producing this dirty water and so what is really needed is a water treatment plant.
“But Labor is taking the economic rug from underneath our farming communities, the food bowl of our nation, and people have had enough out there.
“We need to stop the water buybacks and give back to our vital farmers and communities, who put food on our table. It’s time to give back to them with the investment they deserve.”
