Victorian recreational anglers surrounding the Murray River are invited to the latest Fish Talk at Echuca Workers on Thursday 7 December.

Fishing conservation charity OzFish Unlimited are delivering the event alongside Victorian Fishing Authority and they’re bringing in the heavyweights of fishing with them.

Commences from 6:30pm the free community event aims to raise awareness about habitat restoration for our inland rivers.

The event marks the beginning of OzFish’s Fish Talks roadshow, set to travel through northern Victorian next year with an event marked for Bendigo in March and Swan Hill in July.

Emphasising the importance of maintaining healthy environments for native fish, the speakers will discuss the challenges facing our rivers, recent conservation success stories, and opportunities for individuals to contribute to restoration initiatives.

Braeden Lampard, OzFish Murray-Darling Basin Program Manager knows that anglers are at the frontline of issues and play an effective role when they’re informed.

“We try and make these community-centric events, the lineup of speakers varies but will also feature fishing experts providing relevant information, tips, and fishing tales,” said Braeden.

“These events are often the starting point to kickstart aquatic restoration.

“One of the key items for discussion is to update local anglers on how they can get involved and it’s a great time after the devastating flooding from earlier this year.

“There is a complexity to restoration and bringing back a waterway to good health. We really want people to know more about that, but solutions are within reach,” said Braeden.
